“Block undesirable content”
by Cyril Roger
For many parents, being able to control how much time your children spend on the internet and making sure they don't visit the wrong sort of sites is very important.
Those of you that have Leopard will know that it now includes Parental Controls, which allow you to block and allow websites in Safari. The CutX plugin is a little more advanced.
This app will allow you to set up a list of banned words and sites and select the ones you want to authorize. You'll also be able to block downloading files and set up a password to access the preferences in Safari (so your kids don't tamper with them).
The CutX menu is accessible from the Safari menu bar, and enabling or disabling it is really easy, once you have your password set up. If your kids try to access something they are not allowed to, a big blocked site pop up will appear. You can write your own message for this window in the CutX preferences.
Although Leopard already features Parental Controls, CutX is an excellent Safari plugin to control what sites your children can visit on the web.

From the publisher of CutX for Safari
CutX is an extended site blocking plug-in designed for Apple's Safari web browser. The basic purpose of the plug-in is to empower you, the user, to view the web as you like. You can block any website, the world is your oyster.
If some undesirable content isn't blocked, you can add it to the "block list" with a keyboard shortcut. If some desirable content is accidentally getting caught by the Block rules (a false positive), you can specifically allow content via an Allow keyboard shortcut. The method is similar to adding a Block rule. With CutX, you can do things Safari never allowed you to do before!
